Birthday Bodies Tips & Tricks

It all started when...

Sometimes, social norms can place unrealistic goals into our minds by telling us to drink certain miracle teas or wear certain body equipment, or take diet pills and we'll look just like the person in the picture. The world has become so deceitful for monetary gain and in turn have given young girls false hope. After so many attempts of doing what's popular, i.e fad diets, some don't quite get the desired results, which can translate into failure. Its not failure, its just not how your body is made; and that's OK!

There are 4 different body types, we all fall into one of them. To give a visual, there's the hourglass, the pear, the apple and the banana. The current standard of beauty, (per the world) is to have that perfectly proportioned hourglass shape. This is why we see body shapers, and body trainers now, because we want that hourglass shape SO badly. Can you picture an apple with a waist trainer on? Or even the banana contorting to look like the hourglass? Its absurd right?! All of them are beautiful, there is no need to change form to be "Beautiful" in the world's eyes. An apple is an apple, and that is what makes it perfect.

You are unique, EMBRACE that. Some of us have small breast, some of us have large butts, some of us carry most weight in our legs, while others hold weight in the upper portion of our body. We are who we are meant to be.

Now, let's get to down to business. What IS important is taking care of your body from the inside out. Regardless of you body type, it must be healthy, you must maintain it to live your best life. I've personally struggled with making the right choices in foods whether I'm out enjoying myself, or home relaxing. The idea is to control the mind and make the decisions that your future self will thank you for.

I've created this list so that you may find it a bit easier to decide on that slice of pizza, or that fresh leafy green salad!

  1. Drink plenty of water before indulging. Lets say you want to have a cheat day, or someone offered you a snack that you just CAN'T refuse; Drink a full glass of water and THEN have it. The water will give you a temporary fullness, which may even buy you time to think about your decision.
  2. Have a large breakfast. If you know you're going out later and plan to enjoy your favorite high calorie foods, that morning have a large nutritional breakfast. It'll speed up your metabolism and you won't feel so hungry throughout the day.
  3. Have a grapefruit or apple. Before consuming the bad stuff, have some good stuff! These fruits are packed with antioxidants and after it hits your stomach, you may change your mind about that burger!
  4. Have a handful of nuts. The fiber in nuts keep you filling fuller for a longer amount of time. Chow down on a handful as a deterrent when the french fries come around!
  5. Keep a "Body Goals" pic in your phone. We all have that person, or people who inspire us to push for fitness. Whenever you feel the urge to indulge, pull that picture up to remind yourself that you can do it, that you have the same strength as the person in the picture!
